Those who like to swap their wide downhill skis for narrow cross-country skis during their winter holiday will find excellent cross-country conditions in Gerlos. As soon as the snow conditions allow, there are freshly groomed trails every day from December to Easter - both classic tracks and skating trails. The winter arena comprises 200km of top quality cross-country trails.

Tobogganing in the Zillertal Arena

Tobogganing in Gerlos offers guaranteed fun for not just the whole family, but also ambitious lugers. After all, what could be more fun than a toboggan race with the family through the snow-covered winter landscape in the largest skiing area in Zillertal? Who can resist a refreshment stop in a cosy, traditional hut on one of the 6, partly floodlit, toboggan runs in the Zillertal Arena resorts of Zell, Gerlos, Wald-Königsleiten, Krimml-Hochkrimml. Night owls will also get their money's worth tobogganing in the Zillertal Arena because some of our toboggan runs are open in the evening.

Snowtubing on Gerlosstein

In the largest skiing area in Zillertal, there are other ways than gliding down the slopes on skis & snowboard. The fun activity in the snow in the Gerlosstein skiing area is called snowtubing. All winter fans can now try this fun activity out on specially prepared runs (approx. 200m)! And the best thing about it: the tubing runs can be used free charge and as often as you like.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the slopes, there is much more to discover and experience in the Zillertal Arena. Amidst a glistening and unique mountain landscape, Gerlos offers numerous snow-covered winter hiking trails that invite you to enjoy and dream.

Interesting and varied ski-tour routes start in the Gerlos valley at an altitude of 1,200m and go up to the glacier regions of the 3,000m peaks. The difficulty levels range from medium to difficult.

The 4-mountain skiing area - the Zillertal Arena - with its resorts of Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Wald and Krimml/Hochkrimml stretches from the Tyrolean Zillertal to the Salzburg Pinzgau.
