Hiking in Gerlos

What could be more beautiful than discovering the unique mountain landscape of the Zillertal on foot? A 400-km network of hiking trails await you. Five side valleys extend from Gerlos, which make hiking a unique experience. Your walks will be accompanied by crystal clear, quietly babbling streams right to the end of valley.

Mountain Biking in Gerlos

The Zillertal Arena offers mountain bikers a host of MTB routes and downhill trails in a fantastic landscape. Most of the ones in Gerlos are on Isskogel, some are well groomed – with waves, berms, bridges, drops and northshore elements.

Climbing in the Zillertal Arena

The via ferrata in Gerlos are further attractions that bring the beautiful Zillertal mountains closer to you. With the right equipment and correct use, climbing a via ferrata is possible for everyone. Via ferrata fans will get their money's worth in the Zillertal Arena. Experienced climbers can take on the challenges of the Gerlossteinwand via ferrata, whilst the via ferrata at Talbach is just right for families. The Riederklamm adventure garden in Gerlos offers the chance to try out various practice routes and get more climbing experience.

Durlassboden Reservoir

The large alpine lake at Durlassboden is a popular excursion destination in the summer months. There are bathing opportunities near the sunbathing area on the left-hand side of the lake, with barbecue possibilities. Sailing boats, surfboards and paddleboats can also be hired. The are several places for refreshments along the circular trail around Durlassboden reservoir.

Almflieger - Gerlosstein

The 'Almflieger' at Gerlosstein is a development of the flying fox that offers fun and adventure for all - and a unique bird's eye view! The Almflieger is in 4 sections and wizzes along at a top speed of 50 km/h above the Gerlosstein area. It is reached by taking the Gerlossteinbahn cable car to the summit, where there is direct access to the Almflieger.

Spruce Tree Castle and Spruce Lake at the Rosenalm

On the Rosenalm high above Zell am Ziller there is a place of fantasy. According to legend, the Spruce Tree Castle was built by the mystical spruce gnomes and is an adventure playground of a very special kind! When the spruce gnomes became tired from the efforts of building, they longed for rest and refreshment and expanded their habitat around the Spruce Lake.

Zillertal Arena

Zillertal Arena means winter skiing fun in the largest skiing area in Zillertal – in SUMMER the region is a highlight for all (active) mountain lovers!

The principle reason for this is the breathtaking alpine scenery, but also the numerous things on offer to visitors. A leisurely walk or extended cycle tour in the mountains or valley, a hearty snack at a traditional alpine lodge or fun and action for the whole family at the many attractions – in the Zillertal Arena there is something for everyone! A number of highlights await those seeking fun and adventure in the Zillertal Arena! The Arena Coaster, Arena Skyliner and flying fox, single trails, via ferrata, water adventures such as rafting and canyoning, paragliding and much more!
